Circumcision Harm is Real is GALDEF’s message in the first of several display ads created to educate attorneys and potential plaintiffs to support impact litigation. The half-page ad appeared in the Summer 2026 issue of Metromode, a quarterly magazine serving Colorado’s upscale LGBTQ demographic. According to Execuitve Direcor Tim Hammond, “Intact Global has very solid legal arguments to challenge the sex discrimination inherent in Colorado’s anti-FGM statute, but much work needs to be done outside the courtroom to educate the public, including judges, about the harms of forced childhood penile circumcision.
The QR code in the ad directs readers to GALDEF’s Equal Protection Lawsuit web page, where potential plaintiffs can learn more and then easily schedule an appointment with Eric Clopper of Intact Global. The same web page also directs interested lawyers to GALDEF’s Attorney Education Video containing interviews with attorneys Eric Clopper and David Llewellyn. The video, titled “Circumcision of Healthy Unconsenting Minors: Strategies for Eliminating Legal Biases in Impact Litigation,” grants attorneys who access the video Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credits.
Accompanying the ad in Metromode is a two-page interview with Hammond titled “Whose Body, Whose Choice?” In the interview, Hammond discusses the videos as well as the Colorado Equal Protection lawsuit. The ad and interview can be downloaded here.
Hammond expressed gratitude to the many donors who generously contributed to GALDEF’s May 2026 fundraising campaign to help fund its display ad and resulting media exposure. “Although we fell a bit short of our original $10,000 goal, it’s still not too late for supporters to donate to the campaign and make it possible for GALDEF to place more such ads in other media outlets, such as law journals.”
